Award Winning Campaign
State of Mind player session presenters Phil Cooper and Carol Ede (both nurses) were successful in March 2012 when winning the prestigious Nursing Standard Mental Health Nurses of the Year at an awards dinner at the Hilton Hotel in London. Jimmy Gittins (picture centre), a former player, has now joined the training team and you can see Phil, Carol and Jimmy pictured at the awards ceremony.
The award has allowed great publicity for State of Mind and recognition for the innovatiove project that takes the mental fitness message straight to players where they train and play.
State of Mind has gained finding to extend the project by training more former players to begin to deliver the training and ultimately take up the baton across the rugby league community everywhere.
The success of the project has led to an ediition of Nursing Standard next year being themed around elements of men’s health issues.
