Catalan Dragons’ former New Zealand Test back rower Louis Anderson is to stay on in the south of France after signing a 12-month contract extension.
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats were thought to have been among the clubs keen to bring the former Warrington Wolves player back to England but the new deal will keep him at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until the end of the 2015 season.
“I am very grateful to be staying another year in Catalunya,” said Anderson, who turned 29 last week.
“I really enjoy being here and appreciate the faith the club has in me. The club is moving forward and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Anderson, who previously played for New Zealand Warriors, has scored 15 tries in 39 appearances since joining the Dragons from Warrington in 2012.
Catalan coach Laurent Frayssinous, who signed a new two-year deal this week, said: “I’m really satisfied to keep Louis at the club for the next season.
“He is an aggressive and powerful forward but a really skilful player. His values like rigour, discipline and hard work and his experience will be valuable in the squad.”
