Ticket sales for First Utility Super League’s two-day spectacular, Magic Weekend, have passed the 30,000 barrier as fans look to make the event at St James’ Park, Newcastle on May 30 and 31 the best one yet.
The East Stand of the stadium has also sold out on the Saturday, a full seven weeks before all 12 teams descend on Newcastle to get Rugby League’s party in the North East in full swing.
After a busy Easter weekend of fixtures which saw huge crowds and entertaining games, attention has now turned to the next big event in the Super League calendar, Magic Weekend.
With Easter having whetted the appetite for Magic, the trip to Newcastle is firing the imagination of fans and resulting in strong sales at the ticket office.
RFL Marketing Director Mark Foster said: “Selling over 30,000 tickets for Magic Weekend at this point in the season is fantastic news.
“There were some huge crowds over the Easter weekend and the atmosphere at the big games I attended was fantastic: Magic in Newcastle is the next opportunity to experience that feeling again.
“A sold out East Stand on the Saturday and strong sales across the whole weekend suggest that we are in for the best Magic ever.
“I live in the North East and there is a buzz about the place and real excitement around what we are bringing to the city. Twenty five per cent of tickets sold have been bought by people in the region. They can’t wait to witness the high intensity of First Utility Super League.”
With the high demand for tickets a new accommodation portal has been created for fans searching for discount hotels and places to stay in and around the North East including the official Magic Weekend campsite at Newcastle Racecourse www.nirvanaeurope.com/
