Super League players who are members of player’s association 1eagu3 will get the chance to test and feedback on the Rhino Rugby match balls for next season.
The two organisations have confirmed a partnership that will see them test new technology and products, starting with the next generation of professional match balls.
Rhino took over from Steeden as official match ball supplier for Super League and other RFL competitions at the start of this season.
Rhino Rugby League Managing Director, Tony Colquitt, commented: “Rhino Rugby are always looking to improve their product and like most sports, players and coaches are looking for continued improvements. This process will ensure that any new technology meets the approval and requirements of the players before being introduced. The players are the end consumers and we are delighted to be able to work alongside 1eague3.”
1eagu3 chief executive, Ernie Benbow, added: “Our partnership with Rhino has already allowed us the ability to ensure the equipment used in Super League is of the highest standard with our members getting involved in developing cutting edge, bespoke equipment to be used on the training field and on a match day.
“Developing the 2014 Match ball is our next project. Our partnership allows our members to test the balls, to give feedback on the design, grip, and feel in passing and kicking to allow RHINO to make available the best possible match ball to all players to match the player expectations of performance.
“This is yet another example of the work being delivered by League Thirteen on behalf of its members; we have improved the player voice and now we can show improvements in player involvement and engagement.”
