Leeds Rhino’s England Knights winger Ben Jones-Bishop will be out of action for up to 6 months
The reason for the time away is due to a blood clot recently located in the lungs. He has been advised to avoid all contact for three months before resuming training. Dr. J Greenwell said that the condition was “picked-up by the medical and strength and conditioning team during pre-season training”.
Apparently Ben has had a pulmoary embolism, or PE, which is a sudden blockage in a lung artery. The blockage usually is caused by a blood clot that travels to the lung from a vein in the leg.
Picking up the condition early can prevent a potential fatal situation from developing Ben said ” It is a relief to get it diagnosed quickly and get it treated”. The condition should have no long-term impact on his playing career.
State of Mind wishes Ben all the very best during the light training over the next three months and hope to see you playing again later this year.
