Former Super League and international forward, Brad Hepi has taken the reins as Head Coach to lead University-based Championship One side, the All Golds, into their inaugural semi-professional season.

Just weeks after his appointment to the University of Gloucestershire student coaching panel Hepi has secured the coaching spot with the All Golds First Team.

Hepi brings a wealth of experience to the new team. He joined the professional ranks of rugby league in the 1980s and has played for SuperLeague sides Hull FC, Castleford Tigers and Salford City Reds, and secured 12 caps for the New Zealand Maori Rugby League Team. Currently, he coaches the England Colleges Backs, following coaching positions with Hull FC Academy and Bristol Ladies RFUW Premiership.

Director of Sport at the University of Gloucestershire, Dr Andy Pitchford, said: “Brad is a fantastic leader. He knows the game inside out and inspires players with his knowledge, commitment and courage. He will be an excellent coach for us and fits the All Golds mould – he is rugby league through and through but he understands education and what a university can bring to this great sport.”

Hepi’s first challenge will be to build on the successful student side that already appears in the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) leagues.
