Castleford Academy and Royal Grammar School High Wycombe will take centre stage at Wembley Stadium on Saturday August 24 to contest the Year 7 Rugby League Champion Schools final (1.05pm).
The Year 7 Boys final is the traditional Tetley’s Challenge Cup curtain-raiser, the winners of which are presented with the Steven Mullaney Memorial Trophy in memory of a player who starred in the 1986 final for Wakefield Schools.
The match brings to a close an action-packed weekend of Champion Schools action which begins with seven games played at Richmond Athletic Association on Friday August 23.
High Wycombe’s appearance in the Wembley showpiece follows on from Surrey’s Howard of Effingham making a winning debut in the 2012 final with a 24-22 victory over Castleford Academy.
Castleford, who will be hoping to make up for that defeat 12 months ago, are the only school to have two representatives in the 2013 Champion Schools finals, with their Year 10 Girls side facing Abraham Guest of Wigan on the Friday.
