The RFL can confirm that as part of a small number of changes for the 2016 season, rules relating to the Kingstone Press Championship Salary Cap will be altered.
Whilst proposed amendments that are envisaged for the 2016 Season will be put before the RFL Board for approval at its December meeting, given the need for certainty around the Salary Cap for planning purposes, those relating to the Salary Cap were taken at the October meeting.
Speaking about the changes, RFL Chief Operating Officer Ralph Rimmer, said: “Following consultation with all Championship clubs, the RFL Board agreed that the Championship salary cap for 2016 will be increased to 50% of Club relevant income.
“We have listened to and worked hard with all Championship clubs to ensure that the changes we have made are proportionate, sustainable and also give them a better chance to compete.”
Full details of all changes to the rules for the 2016 season will be announced following the December Board meeting
