St Helens prop Luke Douglas is facing a rare injury lay-off after suffering a compound fracture of his finger in Friday’s 24-16 defeat at Leigh Centurions.
The 30-year-old former Cronulla and Gold Coast forward, who was injured playing only his second match for his new club, will be out for an unspecified length of time after being told he needs to undergo surgery, Saints coach Keiron Cunningham revealed at his weekly press conference.
Douglas, who played in all three of Scotland’s matches in the 2016 Four Nations Series, holds the record for most consecutive appearances in the NRL, having not missed a game through injury or suspension from 2006-14.
