Former New Zealand international David Faiumu is to leave Huddersfield Giants and return with his family to Australia, his club have announced.

The 31-year-old hooker, who joined the Giants from North Queensland Cowboys in 2008, made his 146th Super League appearance in Friday night’s 18-16 play-off defeat to Catalan Dragons.

“Fuey is a credit to himself and his family,” said Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson. “He has been a great professional at this club.

“He has spent this year struggling with injuries but he made the choice to play on as we needed him. He is something special.”

State of Mind would like to wish David all the very best for the future
