Daryl Powell and Lee Crooks were both in attendance with the squad
Earlier this week Featherstone Rovers confirmed the signings of five players who will all join the club from Super League sides. Joining the club for the 2013 season will be Curtis Jackson, Jack Pickerill (both Hull FC), David Scott (Hull Kingston Rovers), Danny Holmes (Castleford Tigers) and Declan Storey (Wakefield Trinity Wildcats).
Curtis Jackson and Jack Pickerill were part of the Hull FC Under 20 squad in 2012 and both featured for Hull FC in this year’s Rugby League 9’s competition of which Featherstone Rovers were runners-up.
Featherstone Rovers Head Coach Daryl Powell said “Curtis Jackson is the son of Lee Jackson, the Hull FC legendary Hooker and like his father is tough hooker with a great work ethic and willingness to learn. Jack Pickerill also joins us from Hull FC and is a crafty half back with good skills and an ability to break the defensive line.”
Joining from the other side of Hull is David Scott, a utility back who has been plying his trade in the Hull KR Under 20’s. David joined Hull KR from Easterhouse Panthers Rugby League club in Scotland and was named Hull KR Reserves Player of the Year in 2012. Daryl Powell said “Dave is already a Scottish International with real pace and strength. He is a utility back who can play half back or on the wing.”
Danny Holmes joins from near neighbours Castleford Tigers. He was Academy Player of the Year in 2010 and is a product of Castleford Lock Lane. Daryl Powell said “Everyone I speak to regarding Danny speaks very highly of him, he is quick, strong and plays mainly in the centres.”
Last but not least, Declan Storey joins from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and was a member of their Under 20’s side in 2012. He joined Wakefield Trinity Wildcats from Leeds Rhinos and started his rugby league career at Hunslet Warriors. Daryl Powell said “Declan is a back rower and is tall and rangy who will provide great competition for places in our Under 23’s team.”
On all the signings Daryl Powell said “We are delighted to welcome all these players to the club and look forward to seeing them develop during the coming seasons.”
