Rugby League fans have the opportunity to meet some of the sport’s all-time greats at two special events hosted by ex-Great Britain star Andy Gregory to mark his testimonial.
The former Wigan, Leeds and Salford scrum-half has been awarded a testimonial by the RFL as recognition of his services to Rugby League. Andy was pictured with the Army Rugby League Veterans last year and he has a long history helping to develop and coach Army Rugby League
Andy had an impressive career spanning 15 years and was the first man to win the Lance Todd Trophy twice, the first player to win five Challenge Cup final winners’ medals, the first player to play in eight Challenge Cup finals and only player ever to feature in six Ashes series against Australia.
The celebrations to mark his success will begin on Saturday July 5 at the Kings Croft Hotel in Pontefract, for a mixed audience to celebrate his career at both national and international level.
The evening will take the format of drinks on the lawn (5.00pm-6.00pm) followed by dinner (6.30pm-8.00pm) after which there will be a talk with Andy and some fellow former players. There will also be a raffle and auction and the band COD E will play throughout the evening, followed by a disco until the early hours.
The following day (July 6), there will be a cricket match played between an Andy Gregory select side, made up from Andy’s former teammates from throughout his career, and Featherstone Cricket Club.
There are still two tables of ten available for the Saturday night event, priced at £35 per person. There is no charge for the Sunday cricket exhibition, which will have available refreshments and raffles throughout the day.
If anyone would like to attend the event on the Saturday July 5, please contact Ian Cushnie on 01977 600743.
