The Kingstone Press Championship match between Halifax RLFC and Featherstone Rovers will be one of the most eagerly anticipated games in the competition for many years.

The teams are currently second and third in the League and whoever wins at the Shay on August 17th (kick-off 3 pm) seems likely to finish in second position and to take the £450,000 funding available from the RFL next season; £250,000 more than the losers.Fax

The dining facilities at The Shay are already sold out, though Halifax are currently looking at opening an additional function room to meet the high demand of their hospitality waiting list. They will announce this on their website and social media as soon as it is confirmed.

Karl Harrison, Fax Coach said “There have been many notable games between the clubs over the last few seasons, including the Grand Final and the Northern Rail Cup Final, but without doubt this will be the biggest yet.”

Michael Steele, Halifax Chairman said “We’ve been waiting for this game all season and the fact that the two teams are in the competing positions makes it even more spicy. Both teams will want to win, that’s for certain, and I’m sure that both sets of supporters will be wanting to shout their team to victory. We need anyone who has ever supported Fax to get down to the Shay. I know that Mark Campbell, my opposite number, will be wanting the same from Featherstone’s supporters. Both Clubs want a shot at promotion to Super League next season and the extra funding will be vital.

Get there early, enjoy the atmosphere, and shout Fax to victory.”
