Leeds Rhinos have given a new contract to long-serving prop forward Ian Kirke.
The 32-year-old, who has made 177 appearances since joining from York in 2006, has agreed a new two-year deal which takes him to the end of 2015.
Kirke, who has won five Grand Final winners’ rings with Leeds, rejected the chance to move to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the close season and is delighted to extend his stay at Headingley.
“I had no intentions to leave the club because I am very happy with life at the Rhinos so to get a new contract is brilliant,” he said.
“We have kept a core of players together since I have been here and I think that has stood us in good stead.”
Leeds coach Brian McDermott added: “Ian is an integral part of our squad. Every successful team needs players who have the attributes that Ian brings to our team.”
