Kevin Sinfield’s appointment as England Rugby League Captain has received the support of Members of Parliament after a motion was tabled in the House of Commons. The motion, tabled by Leeds North West MP and Parliamentary Rugby League Group Chairman Greg Mulholland, congratulates Sinfield on being named captain of England and acknowledges his successes as captain of Leeds Rhinos.

It continues by recognising the leadership skills he will bring to the squad in the Autumn International series.
Sinfield was named captain of the England team earlier this month, replacing Rhinos team mate Jamie Peacock. Mulholland commented “It is fantastic news that Kevin Sinfield has been given the captaincy of the England rugby league squad.

He has demonstrated fantastic leadership skills during his time at Leeds Rhinos, where the club have achieved huge success during his tenure. I am confident that he will be able to transfer the leadership skills he has demonstrated at Rhinos to the field whenever he leads out the England squad. “I wish him and the rest of the team the best of luck in the autumn internationals and look forward to seeing the England team thrive under his leadership in the run up to and during the Rugby League World Cup in 2013.” Kevin appeared in the first State of Mind film and captained the England side in a crushing victory over Wales on Saturday
