St Helens’ Australian forward Josh Perry looks to have played his last match for the club.
The 32-year-old prop, who is out of contract at the end of the year, is set to have an operation on a pectoral injury which will rule him out of the rest of the season.
Perry, who has endured an injury-hit three seasons in Super League, damaged his shoulder against Castleford Tigers on Easter Monday, when he scored his first tries for the club, and attempted unsuccessfully to make a comeback in May.
“I suppose if he was a younger player he could have had the op earlier on but, as he’s older, he wanted to play,” said Saints coach Nathan Brown.
“But the injury isn’t right and that means it’s likely this will finish his year but not his career.”
State of Mind wish Josh all the very best for the future wherever his career takes him
