Wigan legend Shaun Edwards OBE is to return to the DW Stadium… as guest speaker at Shaun Briscoe’s Testimonial Finale Dinner in June.
Edwards made 467 appearances, clocking up 1,140 points, for the Riversiders in a career spanning 14 years, from 1983 to 1997.
The current Assistant Coach of Wales RU will be joined on the top table by New Zealander Frank Endacott who coached Wigan Warriors in 2000 and 2001, being crowned Super League Coach of the Year in his first season.
The former Coach of New Zealand and Auckland Warriors has timed his annual visit to the UK to coincide with Briscoe’s final event in a three-month RFL-approved Testimonial.
Full back Briscoe has chosen Wigan as the venue for his final Testimonial event having graduated through Hindley and Wigan St. Patricks amateur clubs to make his Super League debut for Wigan Warriors in July 2002, going on to make 29 first team appearances, scoring 11 tries.
Briscoe has since served Hull FC and Hull KR, one of only six players to make 100 appearances for both Humberside club, plus his current club Widnes Vikings. He has been capped nine times by England.
The Finale Dinner will be staged in Briscoe’s home town at the DW Stadium on the evening of Friday 21st June.
