Jo Phillips
Jo is a former Rugby League player and coach for Wakefield Trinity Women. Her playing career ended after suffering a stroke during a Rugby League Cup Final.
Jo was recently diagnosed with CTE and early onset dementia, which has further added to her passion for promoting mental wellbeing.
After suffering with mental health issues, post-traumatic stress disorder and depression, Jo is now an advocate for mental health, primarily focusing on females in sport. Jo is located in Yorkshire and is also a qualified Mental Health First Aider Instructor, training people to become Mental Health First Aiders.
“My aspiration is simply to use my own lived experiences to encourage others, to identify and find strategies to enable and empower them to overcome and manage life’s inevitable adversities. Fundamentally, I don’t want see people dying by suicide. If the work I do can prevent one person from taking their own life, my job is done.”
