Three intrepid Widnes Vikings fans are embarking on an epic journey of over 2,000 miles to raise money for Rugby League Cares, and as a mark of respect to the Catalan Dragons after 10 years in Super League.
Dan, Beck and Mike will be purchasing an aging car to take on one final road trip – visiting several Super League fixtures and arriving in Perpignan in time to see Widnes face off against the Catalan Dragons on April 6th.
Along the way they will be raising money for Rugby League Cares and bringing gifts and gestures of goodwill to the Catalan Dragons – who are celebrating their tenth season in Super League.
Each of the Super League teams will be identified on the car itself by a sticker, and all of the Super League teams will be asked to sign around their sticker, with the intention of auctioning the car to raise further funds upon their return.
Dan Ince said: “We have never been down to a game in France before, and this is a great opportunity to show some respect for the effort they put in travelling 2,000 miles for most away games. It is also a great opportunity to give to Rugby League Cares and we hope that everyone will get behind us and raise some money”
Katie Irwin, operations manager of Rugby League Cares said: “This is a fantastic gesture from Dan, Beck and Mike. We are constantly humbled by the generosity we find from ordinary Rugby League fans. We are proud to be associated with their journey.”
