Suicide is a significant cause of early mortality, particularly among young and middle aged people but are relevant across the life course. Self harm is a significant cause of unscheduled health care and is an indicator of a significant level of distress among individuals.

Tackling the separate but related issues of self harm and suicide are therefore critical components in addressing health and wellbeing among statutory non statutory and community organisations. Talk to Me 2 has recently been the subject of a national consultation it is to be formally launched on the 16th July by the Minister for Health and Social services, it will become the cornerstone for suicide and self harm prevention over the next five years indicating priorities to be addressed at national regional level and local levels.

The Launch event will provide the opportunity to gain greater insight into the content of the strategy, the development of regional groups to progress the work, experiences from other UK administrations and the opportunity to network with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds.

State of Mind will be presenting their multi-award winning education session as part of the launch and are looking forward to being part of such an important event.
