Alex Walmsley was a standout for St. Helens over the Easter weekend against Wigan and he was quick to praise his former coach John Kear
Walsmsley who two years ago was playing amateur rugby league with Dewsbury Celtic after a tour with the British Amateur Rugby League Association Young Lions in South Africa was offered a trial by Kear at Batley Bulldogs.
“I was a late developer, which is why it took me so long to get noticed and if you don’t get signed to a professional club at 15 or 16 it should not be a closed book” Walmsley told League Express newspaper’s Richard de La Riviere.
I still speak to John Kear quite a bit and its good to have someone like that who belives in me. It’s a good feeling”.
State of Mind would like to wish Alex all the very best for the rest of his first full season in Super League.
