Widnes Vikings have announced the signing of Hull centre Setaimata Sa for the 2016 season.
The 27-year-old former Catalans Dragons player, a Samoa international, will move after two seasons with the Airlie Birds and has been earmarked for a role in the pack by Vikings coach Denis Betts.
Betts said: “He is someone that we have coveted throughout this season and that we have thought highly of over the past couple of years. He wants to play as a back-rower and that’s what we were looking for.”
Sa, who has also played for Sydney Roosters and rugby union side London Irish, believes he will fit in well at the Select Security Stadium.
He said: “I’ve seen a few Widnes Vikings games and they play a brand of footy that I enjoy playing. They seem to like to throw the ball around a bit and that will suit me.”
