With provision of furniture, food and clothes, accommodation, skills training, education and advocacy. We have a holistic approach to a person’s life in crisis, helping people to live independently from total dependency.

Compassion in Action was formed by Pam Gilligan in 2006 from humble roots in St Mary’s Church Hall, Lowton. Her vision was to unite a community; meeting the needs of the most vulnerable in society.

Our clients experience crisis for many reasons: family breakdown, substance misuse, alcohol and gambling addiction, domestic violence and poverty. Our aim is to support them though that period of immediate crisis.

From those humble roots in 2006 we now have a charity that operates over many sites including Patrick House, Leigh; food distribution and furniture recycling in Atherton; painting and decorating across Wigan borough, as well as a Rainbow Eco Farm in Leigh.
