Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust are supporting a project to deliver mental fitness sessions and train volunteers in local sports clubs to become Mental Health First Aid trained with State of Mind Sport
The first Mental Health First Aid course last weekend included attenders from Warrington Wolves Rugby League Football Club, St. Helens Referee Society, Eagle Sports FC, Runcorn Town FC and the North West Counties Football League
The two day course was delivered by Ian Smith (former Super league referee and Jimmy Gittins former rugby league player
A total of 11 people are now qualified as mental health first aiders
