The RFL has welcomed the latest grassroots sports participation figures from Sport England which show an increase in the number of people playing Rugby League on a regular basis.
Since the last benchmark figure, Sport England’s Active People survey indicates that 7,300 more people are now playing Rugby League regularly.
That increase comes from all formats of the game, including Play Touch Rugby League and Tag Rugby League, as well as 13-a-side.
RFL Chief Operating Officer Ralph Rimmer said: “The latest figures represent good news for the sport and reflect our own data, which shows that participation levels are continuing to increase.
“Our development teams are working hard to put offers in front of participants, both new and established, and it’s pleasing that more and more people are enjoying the health and social benefits associated with playing Rugby League.
Keeping active is great to keep you mentally fit!
“We remain committed to implementing a participation strategy that will give as many people as possible the opportunity to play Rugby League and are continuing to work closely with Sport England to meet our Active People targets.”
