In this week’s Rugby League Express an interview with Adrian Morley mentions his friend and former team mate Terry Newton who took his own life.

In his book ‘Moz: My Story’ he wrote a chapter about ‘Tez’ and although there can be no happy endings to such a story Morley recognises the work done by the State of Mind organisation which was set up in Newton’s memory and pushes home the message that attitudes towards depression must change.

“We spend our careers pretending not to be hurt when we are, and players take that mentality into their lives”.

In concluding the chapter Morley states that “I miss him immensely and I think about him every day in my prayers”.
