In March 2017 Kev Buck received the heart breaking news that his Father ‘Arty’ had taken his own life.

As in many cases Arty must of felt like this was his only option. So moving forward from this, Kev decided to try and raise awareness around mental health and suicide.

He had the idea to row a marathon to raise money. The event takes place at Esposito’s Victoria Park Widnes, Victoria Park, Birchfield Road, WA8 7SU from 11am on Saturday 11/08/18

Arty was a keen rugby league player and this was passed on to Kev and his brother.

It seems fitting to work with the charity State Of Mind, which combines rugby and mental health awareness. Kev Mentioned this to friend George Jones who was more than up for the challenge.

Both Kev and George are NOT strong rowers which makes the challenge even more gruelling.

The row itself will be a chance to raise money, but both Kev and George agree that the main focus should be on raising awareness around a subject which is still very much a taboo, especially amongst men.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated. Just follow the link below, cash donations can be accepted on the day.

State of Mind will be on hand to support the challenge on Saturday so come on down and say hello!

We would like to thank George and Kev for their support and good luck for the marathon challenge
