Tickets for the eagerly-anticipated Summer Bash at Blackpool, which will host a full round of Kingstone Press Championship fixtures over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend in May 2015, are now on sale.

The world’s most famous seaside resort will host four matches on Saturday May 23, including the first ever final of the League 1 Cup, and three on Sunday May 24 at Bloomfield Road home of Blackpool FC.

With tickets starting from just £20 for the day and £30 for the weekend in a destination resort that features a wide range of affordable accommodation options, Summer Bash is expected to become a hugely popular event.imagesource (2)

As well as the high quality drama on the pitch, fans can enjoy a packed programme of activities designed to keep the whole family entertained, including live music, a Fanzone and social media interactions.

The action kicks off on Saturday at 12.00pm with the League 1 Cup Final, the pinnacle of a new competition which features all 14 League 1 teams alongside West Hull and East Leeds from the National Conference League.

The Summer Bash fixtures begin with the Cumbrian derby, Workington Town v Whitehaven at 2.30pm followed by Sheffield Eagles taking on former Super League club London Broncos at 4.45pm.

Saturday will conclude with a West Yorkshire derby between Bradford Bulls and Halifax, two clubs with a long and proud historic rivalry who are guaranteed to provide a memorable ending to Day 1.

More local rivalry will get Sunday off to a mouth-watering start with the clash between Batley Bulldogs and Dewsbury Rams at 12.45pm.

Newly-promoted Hunslet Hawks will face Doncaster at 3.00pm before Summer Bash reaches a spectacular finale with a replay of this year’s Kingstone Press Championship Grand Final at 5.15pm, with Featherstone Rovers looking to avenge their defeat to champions Leigh Centurions.

RFL Chief Operating Officer Ralph Rimmer said: “The Summer Bash is a tremendous addition to the new-look Championship and I am sure Rugby League fans everywhere will embrace the event and take the opportunity to spend a weekend at a venue which has a rich tradition of creating fantastic memories for the sport.

“Blackpool is the perfect home for the Summer Bash: not only are there plenty of accommodation choices but the resort offers our fans many other attractions over the extended Bank Holiday weekend.

“With the dawn of a new era for Rugby League and the restoration of promotion and relegation in 2015, every minute of every game matters and that will ensure the Summer Bash will produce drama of the highest quality.”
