Mental Health Awareness in Rugby League – An introductory course for coaches

Free professional development! The course has been specifically designed for people working in rugby league, and coaches in particular. It is two hours long and free to attend. Attendees don’t need any previous knowledge of mental health.

The course is delivered in partnership with the RFL and State of Mind, and is approved RFL continuing professional development (CPD) for coaches.

 

The course includes:

• What is mental health? Different diagnoses and their symptoms, with examples from RL

• Physical impacts of mental health problems

• Mental benefits of exercise

• Practical guidance for coaching players with mental health problems

• Legal requirements of clubs

• Signposting to other sources of help and information

 

The training is delivered by Time to Change, a project by leading mental health charities Mind and Rethink. All trainees will receive a certificate of attendance.
