Super League Chief Operating Officer Ralph Rimmer has congratulated Hull Kingston Rovers on their achievement in breaking the stadium attendance record for today’s First Utility Super League fixture against Leeds Rhinos (3.00pm kick-off).

The newly-extended and renamed KC Lightstream Stadium is hosting Super League action for the first time since the opening of the new North Stand and the ground’s capacity crowd of 11,500 is set to be tested for the historic match.

Over 11,000 tickets have already been sold, beating the previous attendance record of 10,250 for the visit of Hull FC in 2011.

Ralph Rimmer said: “I would like to extend my congratulations to chairman Neil Hudgell, his staff and everyone at Hull Kingston Rovers on this terrific achievement.

“The record crowd is recognition of a lot of hard work by everyone at the club and testifies to the huge sense of anticipation and excitement that surrounds the 2014 First Utility Super League season.

“Sunday will be a day to remember for everyone at the KC Lightstream Stadium and I send best wishes to both clubs as they look to get the new campaign off to a winning start.”

East Stand tickets are still available to purchase online at www.hullkr.co.uk/ticketsLeeds-HullKR SOM 10, by calling 01482 222072 or from the Rovers Retail Store on Savile Street in the city centre. Availability in other parts of the ground is already limited with some areas sold out.
