Huddersfield have signed Newcastle Knights full-back Jake Mamo with Giants centre Joe Wardle going the other way.

The 22-year-old Mamo, who scored five tries in 13 NRL appearances in 2016, will link up with his former Knights coach Rick Stone after signing a two-year deal with the Betfred Super League club.

“I have worked with Jake for the last few years and I know what he is about and to have him coming to the Giants for the next few years is a great boost,” said Huddersfield head coach Stone.

“Jake is an explosive player, who brings plenty to the table offensively. He’s courageous, fit and really quick.

“I’m sure the crowd are going to really enjoy watching him play and hopefully he will score plenty of tries for the Giants in the next couple of years.”

Mamo is currently recovering from a broken ankle but Huddersfield are hopeful he will be fit for their opening Super League fixture at Widnes Vikings on February 10.
