The State of Mind team will arrive in Rochdale on Wednesday night to deliver another session for the players

The State of Mind project was set up over 12 months ago as a Rugby League initiative to assist past, current and future player’s as well as coaches and parents to look after themselves and get the most from life. The game of Rugby League has changed dramatically over the last few years with the game moving to summer in both amateur and professional games. There has been an increasing number of player’s taken on by Super League Club’s to hopefully develope for the future , however this all brings issues upon both young and old player’s as well as parents.State of Mind 104

The session will be run by ex professional player’s who will talk about the pressures of modern day Rugby League and how to improve your own and your children’s wellbeing.

The session is on Wednesday 6th February at 6.45pm at the clubhouse and will last 30-45 minutes and is a light hearted discussion covering eating well, drinking, keeping active and how to get help if needed amongst other subjects.

We are lucky to have one of Britain’s greatest Rugby League star’s Paul Sculthorpe in attendance giving his insights into what he had to deal with in and out of the game. His brother Danny will also be in attendance to talk about his experiences of playing Rugby League while suffering from a medical condition.

A number of other ex professional player’s will also share their own experiences as well as a young player who was a promising talent who was released at an early age from the professional game and he will talk about how he coped with the rejection.

This is an open session for anybody at the club to attend whether you are a player , coach or parent and will pass on useful ideas of how you can access support as a player or how as a coach and a parent you can identify possible problems and assist your child to find the right help.

The session is free and is very light hearted and jovial so please feel free to come along and either take part or just listen to the experiences of these player’s.

Session will start at 6.45pm and lasts 30-45 minutes.
