One of the founders of South Wales Scorpions RLFC sadly passed away earlier this week.

John Brennan, a club director, had been suffering from cancer and had fought it for the best part of a year. When Phil Davies founded South Wales Scorpions, John was the first person he asked to assist him knowing he was a RL fan. He didn’t come alone. The whole Brennan family have been involved.

Andrea, John’s wife, looks after all the hospitality, while his daughters Holly and Cassie sell programmes and carry out gate duties. He went to most away matches in the first couple of years of the club too. State of Mind would like to pass on our condolences to all of John’s family and friends

Mr Brennan’s funeral takes place on Friday, November 9 from 10.30am to 11.30am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church in Sandfields, Port Talbot for a requiem mass. Then on to Margam Crematorium at 12pm.

“His family have invited everyone to join them for a drink to celebrate a wonderful man at the Towers Hotel in Swansea afterwards,” said a club spokesman.
